Attorney serving Alexandria named state association president

Tom Jacobson, a Swenson Lervick attorney, was recently elected president of the Minnesota Association of City Attorneys (MACA) at the group's annual meeting.

MACA is dedicated to improving city government through educating and sharing information among its city attorney members.

Jacobson has been an attorney with the Swenson Lervick firm since 1996. He currently serves as the city attorney for Alexandria, Parkers Prairie and Starbuck. Jacobson previously served as MACA vice president for two years before accepting this new role.

Glenwood business earns top workplace award

American Solutions for Business recently earned the 2021 Top Workplaces USA award .

Based on results from employee feedback through a third-party survey, the company qualified for this award on a national level.

Home visit capacity in Alexandria area expands

Home Energy Squad has added local staffing in the Alexandria area to make scheduling a virtual or in-home visit more flexible for residents.

For the first 50 local sign-ups, the company is offering in-home visits at half price.

Initial consultations by phone or video chat are free. Home Energy Squad is available to CenterPoint Energy and Xcel Energy customers.

After each virtual visit, an energy expert works with the homeowner or renter to determine the best next step. If recommended, a follow-up in-home visit would be performed with mask wearing and social distancing.

The goals of a home energy visit are to make living spaces more comfortable and help homeowners save money in the long-term.

Health organization extends gratitude to frontline workers

PrimeWest Health expressed gratefulness to the health care, human services and essential workers who have been working through the pandemic to ensure the wellbeing of others.

“Your care and dedication to serving our communities is awe inspiring,” the news release stated. “In these unprecedented times, you have worked courageously and selflessly to keep us and our loved ones safe and healthy.”

To continue slowing the spread of COVID-19 and help keep these frontline workers safe, PrimeWest Health also encouraged the public to stick to the guidelines that have been released and get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Gate City Bank employees promoted

Two employees of Gate City Bank were recently promoted: Leona Hurlbut and Scott Gronholz.

Hurlbut has been promoted to the role of assistant vice president and mortgage loan officer. She started at the bank in 2017.

Originally from Miller, S.D., Hurlbut brings nearly seven years of experience to Gate City Bank. She studied at Alexandria Technical and Community College, focusing on business, fashion management, finance and credit management.

Gronholz was promoted from commercial banker to assistant vice president and business banker. He will serve the communities of Alexandria and Fergus Falls.

An Alexandria native, Gronholz brings more than 30 years of experience to Gate City Bank. He graduated from Alexandria Technical and Community College in 1987 with a degree in finance and credit.

Coldwell Banker Crown Realtors employees honored

Three Coldwell Banker Crown Realtors employees were recently recognized for joining new membership circles in the company.

Managing broker Brandon Johnson qualified to join the company’s International President’s Circle. This membership is awarded to the top 5% of sales associates and representatives in the worldwide Coldwell Banker system.

Broker associate Kevin Mahoney and sales associate Ashley Rambow were both honored as members of the company’s International Sterling Society. This membership is awarded to the top 15% of all Coldwell Banker sales associates and representatives worldwide.

Crown Realtors has been an affiliate of Coldwell Banker since 1983 and has been serving the Alexandria area since 1967.
