Alexandria nonprofit receives national recognition

Central Minnesota Elder Network’s Respite Care Program recently received national recognition.

The ARCH National Respite Network and Resource Center awarded the Alexandria nonprofit as an Innovative Provider of Respite Services. Elder Network was selected as one of four recipients among respite programs across the U.S.

Elder Network’s program was acknowledged for its commitment to caregivers and care recipients.

Established in 1996, the nonprofit was formed to be a companionship program for aging residents in central Minnesota. In addition to its respite care program, Elder Network works to provide companionship to seniors, connecting community volunteers with clients in a variety of ways including in-person visits, phone calls and a mailing card program. All services are provided to clients at little or no cost.

Through ARCH National Respite Network and Resource Center, Elder Network’s respite program model will be shared with similar care organizations across the country.

Local entrepreneur grows residential dumpster franchise business

Bin There Dump That – a residential dumpster rental franchise company with locations in the U.S. and Canada – is a network of small businesses on the rise.

The company reached and passed its 200-franchise milestone in 2021. The total number of active franchises is up by 53.7% over the past three years, according to CEO Mike Kernaghan.
