The mystery about what will replace the former Tennessee Roadhouse in south Alexandria is over.

It will be a Mexican restaurant.

El Loro Mexican Grill is scheduled to be on the Alexandria City Council’s Monday, April 26 agenda at 7:10 p.m. It’s applying for on-sale and Sunday liquor licenses at its location, 4820 Highway 29 South.

Rumors and wishes swirled around Alexandria this past February when a “sold” sign went up on the property. At the time, the 4,950-square-foot building was listed at $663,000.

The Tennessee Roadhouse closed in 2017 after the owners filed for bankruptcy.
