A building in Alexandria that once delivered pizzas will now be delivering counseling and mental health services.

Nystrom & Associates is remodeling the former Godfather’s Pizza at 30th Avenue and plans to open in late June.

The business includes a group of professional care providers from the fields of psychiatry, psychology, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, substance use disorder and nursing, according to Peter Nystrom, chief commercial officer.

Based in New Brighton, Nystrom & Associates employs more than 1,200 people throughout 33 clinic locations in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin. They have a commitment to create access to care to help individuals and families struggling with personal, emotional, marital or psychological problems, Nystrom said.

Nystrom & Associates also offers tele-behavioral health and addiction services.

Those driving by the 30th Avenue site will notice a lot of activity in the next few weeks. The building is being completely renovated inside and out.

“We are just starting construction, and converting the building to an office setting takes a little bit of time and a lot of effort,” Nystrom said. “But it will be worth the wait!”

When asked what prompted the business to open a clinic in Alexandria, Nystrom said the company believes in making mental health and addiction treatment services more accessible and delivering high quality care.

“We’ve heard from current employees and patients that Alexandria would be a great city to open a clinic as it’s a service gap area for us,” Nystrom said. “We have clinics opposite ways on both ends in Moorhead and Sartell, but that’s not super convenient for residents in Alexandria.”

Alexandria will be the company’s 28th Minnesota clinic and 33rd clinic overall. Nystrom and Associates has been providing services for 29 years.

Primary service offerings in Alexandria will be therapy (for all ages), psychiatry/medication management (all ages), and addiction treatment for adults.

Nystrom & Associates is looking to hire high quality providers.

“We have a great benefits (medical/401k, etc.) package and many other benefits – CEUs/CMEs/trainings/room for advancement, etc.,” Nystrom said.
