More than 200 employees and residents of five Knute Nelson locations recently took a Safe Care for Seniors pledge.
Knute Nelson’s participating campuses were the Care Center, Grand Arbor and Nelson Gables in Alexandria, Crystal Brook Senior Living in Park Rapids and Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls.
According to Knute Nelson, Safe Care for Seniors is a comprehensive safety and quality improvement program designed to help prevent harm that can occur in the course of caregiving. The plan begins with the pledge about respect, dignity and preventing harm, and includes a five-step action plan. Those five steps are:
Leadership commitment, training and engagement in safe care for seniors.
Designation of a safety champion to lead improvement initiatives.
Participation in learning and Improvement opportunities each year.
Engage residents and families in new ways to improve community, safety and quality.
Build and strengthen a safety culture.
