Solar United Neighbors, a national solar energy nonprofit that goes by its acronym, SUN, is launching a solar co-op in the southwest Minnesota area, including Douglas County.
It is hosting a virtual launch event on Zoom at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Joining the solar co-op, which is free, provides members with a group rate from a selected installer. SUN staff members will help members learn about rooftop solar, figure out if their roof or land is the better place for solar panels, make sizing and other equipment choices, and choose an installer.
Besides Douglas County, the co-op is open to all homeowners, farmers and small businesses owners in Grant, Pope, Stevens and 18 other counties.
