Runestone Electric Association’s Operation Round Up program issued $13,800 in grants to 33 area organizations.

The program has distributed over $951,000 in grants to community groups and organizations throughout the cooperative’s service territory since its inception in 2003. Over 64 percent of REA’s members allow their bills to be rounded up to the next dollar with the average yearly contribution of $6.

Youth: Youth Outdoor Day (Viking Sportsmen), $500; Glacial Hills Elementary, Northern Lights Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Brandon Summer Rec, Prairie Rivers Baseball Association, Science Seekers and RUSC Kinship Mentoring, $300; Miltona Science Magnet School and Cardinal Soccer Boosters, $250; and Alexandria Area High School Clay Target Team, $200.

Community: The Salvation Army of Douglas County and Douglas County Car Care $1,000; Habitat for Humanity, $750; LifeSource, Vikingland Band Festival, Friends of Nordic Meadow, Inc., Lakes Area Gymnastics and Hoffman Economic Development Authority, $500; Elk Lake Beach and Thorson Memorial Library, $300; Alexandria Composite, Garfield Community Club, Friends of Glacial Lakes State Park, Brandon Community Club, Trysil Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery Association, Alzheimer’s Association, Relay for Life of Douglas County, Aeneas Cemetery Association and Minnewaska Drum Line, $250; Hoffman Public Library, $200.

Seniors: Let’s Go Fishing-Alexandria and Central Minnesota Elder Network, $1,000; Douglas County Senior Services & TRIAD, $500.
