Move over, fast food.
Alexandria has another drive-through option on Wednesday, May 26 — a drive-through job fair.
Organized by Rural Minnesota CEP, CareerForce and the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, the fair is set for 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, at at the north end of the former Kmart building across from the CareerForce Center, at 303 22nd Ave. W. in Alexandria.
All job hunters have to do is follow the traffic cones, roll down their window and accept a bag filled with information and applications from Alexandria area employers who are now hiring, as well as some goodies.
If the lines are full, organizers ask participants to wait patiently while others are being helped.

Employment has seen sharp spikes in the Douglas County area over the past year and a half. Employers couldn't find enough workers even before the pandemic, only to see some businesses having to lay off all their workers as the pandemic rolled through the state. The jobless rate was at 20.4 percent for the county a year ago. Now that rate has fallen to 4.1 percent.
The jobless rate is the percent of unemployed workers in the total labor force. Workers are considered unemployed if they are not working, despite being able and willing to do so.
