- United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties welcomed Abbey Kvidt to its team, having her fill the special event and program coordinator position. Kvidt works on coordinating and carrying out United Way programs and events. She also engages and connects volunteers and business teams with United Way volunteer opportunities. Outside of work, Kvidt loves to spend time with her husband and two kids, enjoying the lake, crafting or working on art projects.
Jackson (Jack) Hensel, an Alexandria Technical & Community College welding technology student, was one of several students at the annual state conference selected to serve as a SkillsUSA Minnesota state officer. For the next year, the officers will travel to events across the state, sharing the message of career and technical education, and of SkillsUSA. They work together to develop engaging educational conferences, and visit business and industry representatives and legislative representatives. After graduation, Hensel hopes to work on a pipeline as an independent welder.
Kevin Schutz of Zimny Insurance Agency has become an occupational hygiene and safety technician. Schutz has completed all requirements for a Board of Certified Safety Professionals certification, awarded to those who meet eligibility and experience criteria in the safety, health and environmental discipline and have passed an examination. BCSP credential holders are among the most highly-trained, educated and experienced people in the safety field, and certification shows they have mastered the core competency required for professional safety practice.
