- Dental Health Associates at 107 14th Ave. E has added Scott Schmidt to its dental practice. Schmidt returned home to Alexandria and joined Art Hermes and Tim Gehring, two other dentists at the location. Associates in the office said Schmidt brings hometown values and patient care to the practice. Schmidt and his wife, Liz Spanbauer, were born and raised in Alexandria. They have three daughters, Ella, Layla and JoJo. In Schmidt's free time, he likes watching, playing and coaching his daughters in just about every sport. He and his family enjoy being outdoors year-round and look forward to living back in Alexandria.
- Lake Region Arts Council appointed Katie Elenberger of Alexandria to serve on its board of directors. She holds a bachelor of fine arts in graphic design from Minnesota State University in Moorhead. She is the founder and creative brand strategist of Spark27 Creative, a creative design agency based in Alexandria. Elenberger is passionate about art and loves the entire creative process. Being a designer allows her to incorporate her illustrations and photography into her work. By serving on the board, Elenberger would like to expand her involvement across all the arts, and merge the arts with her business skills.
- Winning Edge Graphics added Jim Glade to its team as director of client and employee engagement. Glade will be responsible for further developing relationships with existing and new clients, promoting Winning Edge’s services and ensuring client satisfaction. He joined the Winning Edge team from FAST Global Solutions of Glenwood. Glade served as the head of aftermarket product development and service manager during more than nine years at FAST. He also achieved level III certification from the Pragmatic Marketing Institute.
The Department of Veterans Affairs appointed Brent A. Thelen as the new director of the St. Cloud VA Health Care System. The St. Cloud VA Health Care System is headquartered at the St. Cloud VAMC in St. Cloud. VA Clinics are located in Alexandria, Brainerd and Montevideo. Thelen has been with the Department of Veterans Affairs for over 16 years. He currently serves as the director of the Quality Management Systems/ISO Consultant Division in Washington D.C. Thelen holds a Ph.D. in engineering/industrial management from Columbia University, a master of science in business administration from Central Michigan University and a bachelor of science in industrial engineering technology from Southern Illinois University.
