Multi-venture entrepreneur Jim Conn of Alexandria is featured in a four-part podcast of WeMentor, which helps emerging to experienced entrepreneurial and small business owners set goals, develop leadership plans and practice new skills.

Nancy A. Meyer, who is originally from Parkers Prairie, founded WeMentor in 1992. She started with one emerging entrepreneur, herself. Since then, she has mentored thousands of emerging to experienced entrepreneurial leaders and business owners who reinvent, or evolve, themselves as they redesign their businesses.

In her podcasts, Meyer talks with Conn about his entrepreneurial business acumen that spans six decades. They talk about Conn's adventurous upbringing and resilient family as he describes how his life took shape before he joined the family business of Wood & Conn Corp. in 1973.

Conn's entrepreneurial spirit took hold at age 8 with a burning need to earn some nickels to ride his bicycle to the Gang Plank/Triple R/Rolling Roller Rink to buy Orange Crush, a caramel roll or a candy bar.

According to the pod casts, Norm Lund of Lund’s Bait Shop recognized Conn's need and casually mentioned that he would be willing to trade some nickels for frogs and angleworms. Lund became Conn's first customer. A pesticide spraying summer business was initiated at age 12 from their 13-acre lake property. And that was just the start of Conn's business ventures.
