State to fund school coolers, livestock farmers
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is offering grants for schools and child care organizations to add coolers for milk, and to livestock farmers and ranchers to update infrastructure and equipment.
Deadline for the cooler grants is 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16. Each school or organization may apply for up to $1,500. These grants are intended to boost demand for dairy products to benefit Minnesota dairy farmers.
Deadline for the livestock grants is 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. Farmers may receive up to $25,000. These grants are intended to promote economic growth and environmentally sound practices in Minnesota's $7 billion livestock industry, and to encourage new farmers and generational transitions.
Funding for these grants is through the Agricultural Growth, Research and Innovation (AGRI) Program. For more information, visit www.mda.state.mn.us and search under grants and loans.
