New group hired to manage mall
A new property management group has taken over the Viking Plaza Mall. A representative from CBRE, a commercial real estate services provider out of the Twin Cities metro area, reportedly stopped and visited with mall tenants Thursday, Jan. 3.
According to the manager of Maurices, Angie Halverson, "CBRE is a property management company the bank hired to manage us until we have a buyer. The next auction date is set for Feb. 22."
The manager of Famous Footwear who was not in when the CBRE representative, John Boich, stopped in, said the information left was mostly just legal information.
The newspaper left messages with Boich and CBRE, but no contact has been made.
Viking Plaza Mall owners, who included manager Scot Snitker, have been facing a sheriff's foreclosure sale since June 14. Snitker didn't return any of the messages left by the newspaper.
The pending sheriff's sale, which has been postponed several times, is once again rescheduled and is now set for Feb. 22. In an earlier Echo Press article, the mall had asked to postpone the sale date to buy time to refinance and then a lender asked for a postponement to sort through some legal issues.
