The Osakis boys basketball team fought off a good effort from Minnewaska on Tuesday night to win a fourth straight game and improve to 4-1 overall.
The Silverstreaks shot 46%. That helped them build a 38-26 lead at the half before holding off the Lakers in a 68-57 final after Minnewaska (1-5) scored 31 points after halftime.
“Very back-and-forth game against a scrappy, hard working Minnewaska team,” Osakis head coach Matt Hoelscher said. “We got down early, but the guys battled back as we were able to get out in transition thanks to applying pressure defensively. Bauer (Klimek) had a stretch where he made some big threes and we got good bench minutes as we got into foul trouble again.”
Klimek, a senior guard, had a game-high 27 points on 10-of-24 shooting overall and a 6-of-14 night from three. Brady Mages and Kyle Mages had 14 and 11 points, respectively, and Stewart Jones finished with 10 to make it four in double figures for Osakis.
The Lakers had three in double figures to keep Minnewaska close. Damon Uhde had 21. Hunter Kostelecky finished with 17, and Ethan Quelle added 10.

“We need to find ways to stop teams from getting back into the game,” Hoelscher said. “We tend to have bad shot selection and miscommunications on defense, but we found a way to gut out the win. We feel good about being 4-1 going into the break, but we know we have stuff to work on.”
