The Alexandria girls hockey team got two late goals from freshman forward Kennedy Ellingson as the Cardinals (4-7-1) beat Grand Rapids-Greenway (9-6) in a 3-1 game at the Edina Tournament on Wednesday.
Both of Ellingson’s goals came in the third period to secure the win after the two teams went into the third tied 1-1.
Kaci Trosvig gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead less than a minute into the second period, but Grand Rapids-Greenway’s Mercury Bischoff tied the game at one at 10:02 of the middle period.
Ella Westlund had two assists for the Cardinals, and MaKenna Aure added an assist as well.
Hailee Bailey stopped 23 shots to get the win. Makenzie Cole had 15 saves in the loss.
