Funeral mass for Nicholas F. "Nick" Axtmann, age 89 of Rugby, N.D. was held Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Little Flower Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring. Nicholas Axtmann was born May 17, 1919 in the home of his parents in Tuscarora Township, Pierce County, N.D. the son of Frank J. and Magdalena (Bohl) Axtmann. He was raised in the home of his parents and received his education in Brazil #2 rural school. On April 5, 1943 he married Veronica 'Vernice' Bertsch in Balta.
Ethel "Irene" Hanson, age 88, formerly of Rothsay, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, April 6, 2009, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born in Montana on Sept. 22, 1920, the daughter of Edward J. and Olga (Carlsrud) Thomas. At the age of two the family moved to the Rothsay area where she grew up on the family farm. She attended country school through the 8th grade and was active in 4-H. She worked for numerous neighbors and friends. She met and later married Ernest Hanson on Oct. 17, 1938, and they farmed in the Rothsay area.
Memorial services for Henry Bremer of Morris, will be held Monday, April 13, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Father David Petron will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Monday. Burial will at a later date. Henry Bremer, son of Frank and Caroline (Kaschmitter) Bremer, was born Jan. 19, 1913 in Wilmont, where he grew up and attended school. In 1941, the family moved to a farm place near Alberta. In 1943, the family then moved to a farm place near Morris, where they lived until 1968.
Conrad Jergenson, age 94, of Minneapolis, died on March 31, 2009. Conrad Stanley Jergenson was born in rural Donnelly to George and Laura Jergenson on June 28, 1914. Following graduation from Morris High School, he completed a course at St. Cloud State College. He taught at a rural school in Webster for one year. He attended the Lutheran Bible Institute, Minneapolis, for one year and spent the summer traveling with the LBI Male Quartet, singing in several states and in Canada. Conrad completed college at Augsburg, graduating with a B.A. degree, and entered Augsburg Seminary.
Wayne Thomas Zimmerman was born on July 16, 1953 in Appleton, the son of Delmar and Virginia (Schnitzler) Zimmerman. He attended school in Donnelly, Danvers and Crystal. His family then moved to Morris in 1964 where he completed his education, graduating from Morris High School in 1972. On June 20, 1975 Wayne was united in marriage to Kelly Bogenreif. The couple was blessed with three children, Nicole, Michael, and Randi. Early on Wayne worked briefly for Hancock Concrete, West Central Steel, and Michaelson's.
Mildred Delia (Mrs. Wallace) Johnson, age 84, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Friday, April 3, 2009 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born Oct. 13, 1924 at the family farm at rural Hawley, the daughter of Albert L. and Hilda (Anderson) Johnson. She grew up on the farm and graduated from Hawley High School. After attending business college she worked in the office of the Hawley Creamery, and later at Cass-Clay Creamery and Carlson Frink Dairy in Denver, Colo. On May 21, 1955 she married Wallace R. Johnson at Eksjo Lutheran Church in Lake Park.
Funeral services for Ervin Jacobson of Hancock will be held Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Morris Evangelical Free Church in Morris. Reverend Marlin Mohrman will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Eileen Josephine Bouressa, age 86 of Clarksville, Tenn. died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at her residence. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1 at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev. William Childress officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Troy Colon, Brian Colon, Matthew Marty, Keith Wilson, Jason Butler and Terry Cutich. Scott Bouressa will serve as honorary pallbearer. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Eileen Josephine Bouressa was born Feb.
Winston Dale Ball passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009 peacefully and surrounded by family. Winston was born on Oct. 12, 1943 in Pierre, S.D. to LeRoy and Lois (Taylor) Ball. He served his country in the United States Air Force.
Funeral services for Duane Hagen of Cyrus will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus. Reverend John R. Smith will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at Scandia East Cemetery in Cyrus. Howard Duane Hagen, son of Todd and Mary (Curtin) Hagen, was born Dec. 3, 1930 in Tacoma, Wash., where he grew up and began his schooling. He graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma in 1949. Duane continued his education at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma.
