Ethel Krantiz (Dolly Doll), age 66 of Minong, Wis., lost her long battle with cancer on Jan. 10, 2009 at the Spooner, Wis. Hospital. Dolly was cremated by Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home. A memorial service will be planned in the spring of 2009. Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements. Dolly was born Dec. 24, 1942 in Morris, the first of twelve children born to Francis and Ethel Doll of Deer Creek. After her family moved to the Deer Creek area in 1959, she graduated from Henning High School in 1960.
Funeral services for Doris Telkamp of Starbuck, formerly of Morris, were held Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009 at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Del Sanderson officiated. Burial was held at the Summit Cemetery in Morris. Doris Gertrude Johnson, the fifth of nine children born to George and Dena (Weltzin) Johnson, was born April 29, 1921 in Hamlet Township, Renville County near Mohall, N.D. She was baptized at St. John's Church in Renville Township, N.D. The family moved to Minnesota in the summer of 1929, following the death of her father.
Funeral services for Mable Marie Ross of Alexandria, formerly of Morris and Moorhead were held Monday, Jan. 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Reverend Neil LeRoux officiated. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Fargo, N.D. Mable Marie Woodfork, daughter of Edward and Ordelia "Tina" (Schlinker) Wookfork, was born Nov. 12, 1919 in Silverleaf, N.D. Mable grew up in Ellendale, N.D., where she attended grade school and later graduated from Ellendale High School.
Edith Detviler was born June 17, 1917 in Morris to Lyle and Laura Squier. She passed away Jan. 10, 2009 at her home in Morris. She was one of six children. She went to country school, was married to Virgil Detviler and moved to Bell Gardens, Calif. in 1939. Her sister, Audrey went to Calif. a few years later. She and her sister worked at Pacific Press for 26 years. Upon retiring Edith and her sister, Audrey and husband Jack Webb moved back to Morris in 1987. Special friend, Leon Richardson, joined them also. She loved to dance and entertain, and especially liked to work outside.
Funeral services for Richard Schmidgall of Morris, formerly of Hancock, were held Monday, Jan. 12, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church near Morris. The Apostolic Christian Church Ministers officiated. Burial was at the church cemetery. Richard Robert Schmidgall, son of Henry and Emma (Koehl) Schmidgall, was born March 27, 1924 in Hancock. He grew up and received his education in Hancock, graduating from Hancock High School in 1942. Richard spent his first summer working for Hancock Concrete in Salina, Kan. He then entered the U.S.
Funeral services for Brian Curtis Brummond of Chokio will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Tim Baltes will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 8 PM at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Morris. Brian Curtis Brummond, son of Curtis "Bud" and Elizabeth (Boldt) Brummond, was born Sept. 18, 1959 in Breckenridge, where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1978.
Marjorie A. Johnson, age 72, of Glenwood (formerly of Starbuck) died Sunday morning, Dec. 28, 2008 at her home under the care of hospice. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Dec. 30 at Indherred Lutheran Church in Starbuck, with Pastor Paul Johnson officiating. Marjorie Ann Johnson, daughter of Clarence and Jeanette Johnson, was born on May 30, 1936 in Moorhead. She graduated from Morris High School in 1954, the Minnesota School of Business in 1955, and the University of Minnesota, Morris in 1982.
Ray Strand, 56, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008 at West Wind Village nursing home suffering from breathing complications in the final stages of a rare neurological disorder Multiple System Atrophy. Ray faced this progressive incurable illness with grace and courage and outlived most individuals who contract it. Funeral services for Ray Strand will be held at the Pederson Funeral Home in Morris on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Ray donated his brain for MSA research to the Mayo Clinic of Rochester.
Funeral services for Audrain Nosbusch will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Father David Breu will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Nosbusch, Chuck Bauer, Gary Bauer, Pat Murphy, Ed Kowalzyk, and Jay Ward. Military Honors will be provided by Jesse Poole American Legion Post #297. Burial will be at Graceville Consolidated Cemetery in Graceville. Audrain "Jigs" John Nosbusch was born on July 21, 1926, the second of twins, to John and Mary (Karner) Nosbusch, in St. Leo.
Funeral services for Corey Jergenson will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church of Morris. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church. Corey Michael Jergenson, son of Robert and Barb (Hoyer) Jergenson, was born November 26, 1971 in Morris, Minnesota. Corey grew up in the Morris area, where he attended Morris Area High School, graduating in 1990.
