Funeral services for Howard L. Nelson of Barrett will be held Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009 at 2 PM at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Reverend Judy Gelinske will be officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services on Thursday. Burial will be at Summit Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Morris American Legion, VFW and AmVets. Howard L. Nelson, son of Chris and Rose (Henriksen) Nelson, was born July 23, 1927 near Donnelly, where he grew up on the family farm.
Funeral services for Luther Virgil Steen of Glenwood will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, MN. Reverend Jim Gronewald will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, MN. Luther Virgil Steen, son of Ole and Clara (Steen) Steen, was born January 30, 1932 in Hancock, Minnesota, where he grew up and received his education. He was confirmed into the Christian Faith at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Hancock.
Mildred O. Thompson, the daughter of Ben and Lena (Birkland) Benson was born June 21, 1910 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. On Jan. 1, 1930 Mildred was married to Tenis Thompson in Ruthven, Iowa. In 1949 they moved to Arnolds Park where Tenis operated the Phillips 66 station. After Tenis' death, Mildred married Harold Justice in February of 1980. He was a retired farmer. Mildred was an amazing woman and was loved by all. She always had a cheerful smile and was the eternal optimist. She loved her family, her friends, her Lord and her church.
Russell Verdi Amundson was born June 12, 1921 in Pembina County, N.D., the son of Arthur O. and Mabel (Molden) Amundson. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed into the Christian faith June 14, 1936 at Big Bend Lutheran Church. He grew up in rural Big Bend and attended country school. He graduated from Appleton High School and went on to attend welding school in Shakopee. Russell served his country in the United States Army from 1942 - 1945, during World War II, as a Tech 4 Welder. On Oct.
David Hansen, 89, Fergus Falls, (formerly of Elbow Lake) died Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. Funeral services for David Hansen will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the Bethlehem/West Elbow Lake Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake with the Rev. Wes Moir and Pastor Scott Ruud officiating. Burial will be in the West Elbow Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Funeral services for Vera Marie Jones of Morris will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Federated Church in Morris. Reverend Hilda Parks will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., with an Order of the Eastern Star Memorial Service at 4 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Summit Cemetery in Morris. Vera Marie Severns, daughter of William and Cora (Swett) Severns, was born July 16, 1921 in Keystone, Neb. She was the 10th of 12 children.
Funeral Services for Katherine E. Ewers will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton. Pastor Tom Olson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton. The Ranney Funeral Home of Wheaton is in charge of arrangements. Katherine passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 27, 2009 at the West Wind Village in Morris. She was 101 years old. Katherine (Morgen) Ewers was born on June 28, 1907 in Spink County near Mellette, S.D. to John and Nellie (Fitch) Morgen.
Robyn R. Brandt age 36 of Alexandria formerly of Morris, died on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at Knute Nelson. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Alexandria. Visitation will be at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 from 5-7 p.m. and also for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.

Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery near Chokio. Daniel Jon Carlson, 3rd child born to Lauren and Barbara (Dorweiler) Carlson, was born June 10, 1961 in Minneapolis.
Funeral services for Ray Jost of Morris will be held Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Tim Baltes will be officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a KC Rosary at 7:15 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, and for one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Morris. Raymond Edward Jost, son of Frank and Willamina (Zaehringer) Jost, was born Jan. 29, 1929, on the family farm near Morris.
