Funeral services for Clyde Johnson of Morris will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 10:30 AM at First Lutheran Church in Morris, MN. Reverend Ali Boomershine will be officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Clyde Earl Johnson, son of Elmer and Mattie (Napp) Johnson, was born February 16, 1930 in Fennimore, Wisconsin, where he grew up and was confirmed in 1943 at St. Peter Lutheran Church by Reverend Reinhard Schedtler.
Funeral services for Harold McRoberts of Morris, formerly of Herman, will be held Monday, April 27, 2009 at 11:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Herman, MN. Reverend JC Duncan will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Herman. Military rites will be provided by the Herman American Legion. Harold William McRoberts, son of William and Minnie (Podratz) McRoberts, was born Aug. 30, 1914 in Herman, where he grew up and attended school.
Robert Kenneth Hovendick, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Lincoln, Mo., at the age of 87. He was born in Cheyenne Wells, Colo., on July 24, 1921, the son of Fred and Cora Lyons Hovendick. The family moved several years later to Herman, Neb., where Robert attended New England Country School until his graduation from the 10th grade. He then began farming with his father. He married Lucille Loftis in 1943 while serving in the United States Army during WW II. Robert spent three and a half years in the service; eleven months were spent in Europe.
Marvin Kalsbeck, age 73, of Big Stone City, S.D., died April 16, 2009 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris. Funeral services were held Monday, April 20 at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank, S.D. Rev. Kenneth Reed and Rev. Beth Conrad officiated and burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Big Stone City. Casket bearers were: Gerald Kalsbeck, Roger Kalsbeck, Kevin Konold, Kerry Konold, John Grossman, Rick Grossman, Joe Kill, and Doug Streed.
Funeral services for Anthony "Tony" O'Keefe of Morris will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Todd Mattson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 8 PM at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Summit Cemetery in Morris. Anthony Leo O'Keefe, son of Michael and Shirley (Bellmore) O'Keefe, was born May 4, 1961 in Breckenridge, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton, North Dakota.
Funeral services for Donald Young of Morris will be held Monday, April 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morris, MN. Reverend Donald Main will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be at the Graceville Consolidated Cemetery in Graceville. Donald Reed Young, son of Milton and Jennie (Christensen) Young, was born July 30, 1927 in Clear Lake, Iowa, where he grew up and attended school.
Dr. James William "Jim" Pinkney, 66, of Greenville and Washington died Monday, April 13, 2009. After serving in the US Army, Jim received a BA degree from the University of Minnesota, Morris; an MA degree from Hollins University; and a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. He spent 10 years in the Counseling Center at the University of Nebraska before moving to the ECU Counseling Center in 1983. In 1992, he joined the faculty in the Department of Counselor and Adult Education. He retired as a Professor Emeritus, after 25 years of dedicated service as a teacher, presenter, and author.
Mary Ann Metz was born Sept. 25, 1954, in Browns Valley, the daughter of James and Shirley (Ziemer) Metz. Mary graduated from Browns Valley High School. On Sept. 3, 1971, Mary was united in marriage to David Nudell in Sisseton, S.D. Mary and David owned and operated a farm in Enderlin, N.D., until 2001 when they sold the business to Olson Farms. She worked for Olson Farms from 2001 to present.
Marian (Mikki) Henrietta Brauer passed away April 8, 2009 at Rapid City, S.D. Regional Hospital. Marian was born July 30, 1923 in Hawley to Martin and Minnie Reitan. She was placed in an orphanage at 1 month and at the age of 2 1/2 she was adopted by Peder and Hilda Sandness of Moorhead where she grew up. She graduated from Moorhead High School and at the age of 20 she enlisted in the U.S. Navy. She was stationed in New York and Florida. She was honorably discharged in 1945 and returned to Moorhead to attend Concordia College under the G.I.
Funeral services for Ruth Disrud of Starbuck, will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Reverend Sarah Taylor will be officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Fron Lutheran Cemetery near Starbuck. Ruth Gladys Johnson, daughter of John and Minnie (Jergenson) Johnson, was born May 31, 1924 in Gilchrist Township, Pope County, Minnesota.
