Deborah Denise Pritchard, age 55 of Walker, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009 at her home. Debbi was born October 18, 1953 in Dawson to LaVern and Alice (Devick) Hansen. Following high school she lived in the Park Rapids area before moving to Hackensack where she worked for many years for Bill Johnson and John Nelson at the Yellow Brick Road. She was currently employed at Northern Lights Casino as a supervisor in food service. Deborah loved spending time with her grandchildren, Chase and Grace. She had the ability to capture their imaginations with her storytelling and secrets shared.
Marie Eva Wevley, age 76, died on May 16, 2009 at Kingman Community Hospital. She was born Aug. 26, 1932 in Browerville, the daughter of Tony and Julie Dirkes Gobernatz. On Aug. 29, 1952 she married Delbert Wevley in Clarksville, Tenn. She was a longtime resident of the Kingman community, a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, the DAV Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary and Blankets for Cancer. Survivors include her husband; her mother; five sons, Mark of Texarcana, Texas; Bill of Seattle, Wash.; Greg of Ashflats, Ark.; Dennis of San Diego, Calif.
Tamara Jean Pelowski was born on October 17th, 1975 at Ramsay County Hospital in St. Paul. Stephen and Eileen Schmidt adopted her when she was two weeks old. She grew up in White Bear. She moved to North Branch when she was 13. When she was 15 she met William Pelowski. They married on May 8, 1993 at the American Legion in North Branch by a justice of the peace. After a long, exhausting day they went to bed early but were soon awakened by the onset of her labor. Anthony Joseph was born the next day. The next few years were difficult but happy. Brianna Jane was born in October 1994.
Funeral services for Wilbur Gulbrandson of rural Herman will be held Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 3 p.m. at Kongsvinger Lutheran Church, rural Donnelly. Reverend Judy Gelinske will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilbur Gerald Gulbrandson, son of Warner and Maud (Hunt) Gulbrandson, was born Dec. 11, 1927 in Morris. Wilbur was baptized on Aug. 5, 1928 and confirmed on Nov.
Phyllis J. Ede, age 63 of Forest Lake passed away May 9, 2009 following a courageous battle with cancer. Phyllis was born Aug. 28, 1945 in Morris. Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Lillian Stark; step-mother, Linda Stark; sister, Janet Halvorson; sister-in-law, Charleen Stark. Survived by her husband, Robert whom she married on June 16, 1979; brother, LeRoy Stark; brothers-in-law, John Halvorson and John (Sally) Ede; sister-in-law, Betty (Rodney) Hestekin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, May 14 from 4-8 p.m.
Milton A. Gumm, age 79, a resident of Parkers Prairie, formerly of Henning and Morris, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Kirk Lee officiating and Rev. Randy Maland as Lector. Music will be provided by organist, Maureen Diedrich and vocalist, Dick Cloeter.
Erling L. Larson, age 87 of Buffalo, Minn., died on April 5, 2009. Preceded in death by wife, Joan; parents, Alex and Emma Larson; sister, Ruth and brothers, Carroll, Arden and Paul. Survived by sons, William (Rayana), Jim, and Gary (Julie); daughter, Mary; grandchildren, Jill Perry (Moses), Bret, Hannah and Renae and great grandchildren, Logan and Beija Perry. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy (1942-48) and was a decorated veteran of WW II for his service in the South Pacific. He was a 60 year member of the American Legion.
Harlan Chan, age 64, of Bayonet Point, Fla., formerly of Cyrus, died on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at home in Florida. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Chan, his mother Joyce, and his youngest brother Daniel Hansen. Harlan was born in Starbuck on May 11, 1944. He was baptized and confirmed at Reno Catholic Church. Harlan attended Oscar Lake Country School until eighth grade. He had many great memories of his years at the country school and spoke of them often He graduated high school in 1963 from Kensington, which he affectionately referred to as K-Town.
Harold Zander of Starbuck passed away Saturday, May 2 at the age of 67. A memorial service will be held in late August at East Zion Lutheran Church, with his ashes interred at the Ellertson/Mortenson Cemetery. Harold was born July 25, 1941 and baptized September 21, 1941 in St. Paul. He was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, N. D. on May 25, 1958, and his sister Pauline was confirmed at the same time. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1959. He joined the US Army shortly after graduation and did his basic training at Fort Ord, Calif.
Sandy (Mathison) Hamilton, 53, of Pequot Lakes, died Saturday, April 25, 2009 surrounded by her family. Funeral services for Sandy will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes with Revered Frank Milo officiating. Friends are welcome to visit Wednesday, April 29 from 5-7 p.m. at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Interment will follow services on Thursday at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake.
