Carpentry students competing in SkillsUSA each build a small building as part of the state competition Friday at Alexandria Technical and Community College. Other competitions at the school today include CNC milling and CNC turning, mechatronics, motorcycle service and technology, snowmobile service technology, and technical drafting. Additional state competitions will be held next weekend in the Twin Cities.
While a large crowd was watching the Winter Spectacular snowmobile races at the Viking Speedway on Saturday, a smaller group was watching competitors with just as much determination nearby. Inside the Runestone Community Center, many children and adults had the chance to compete against each other in the Minnesota Special Hockey Jamboree. The Jamboree was hosted by the Alexandria Muskies, one of 10 Special Hockey teams in Minnesota. Most of the teams are in the Twin Cities area, however Duluth and Moorhead also have teams.

Any word that is ambiguous or confusing muddles the meaning and makes clear communication difficult or impossible. Words tend to change over time. A word that meant one thing a couple hundred years ago may mean something totally different today. This change in words over long periods of time is normal and expected. But, when word meanings suddenly change, then we should be concerned.
