FARGO—A nationally known economist who worked on Donald Trump's presidential campaign gave a Fargo audience his take on Trump's personality and performance as president during a keynote address at the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber's annual Economic Outlook Forum held Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the Delta by Marriott. Stephen Moore, who has written on the economy and public policy for the Wall Street Journal, said that during his first meeting with Trump he realized something unexpected.
ADA, Minn. — A 20-year-old woman has pleaded guilty in Norman County District Court to second-degree manslaughter in the shooting death of her boyfriend last summer. Under a plea agreement between the prosecution and defense, Monalisa Perez would serve 180 days in jail and spend 10 years on supervised probation. The judge, however, will have the final say on her sentence.
Court documents have revealed more details about a shooting at a downtown Fergus Falls apartment on Nov. 21 that left two people wounded. Three people — Derek Joel Koch, 35, and Shaylee Bree McCulloch, 20, both of Dalton, and Hailey Rose Johnson, 20, of Erhard — have been arrested in the case. They are each charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and second-degree assault.
FARGO — A 17-year-old found dead over the weekend in a residence hall at North Dakota State University was identified Monday, Sept. 18, as Devin Delaney by an attorney representing the teen’s family. “Yesterday, the Tom and Kjertsen Delaney family lost their son and brother, Devin,” attorney Paul O. Taylor wrote in a letter released to the public.
DILWORTH, Minn. – An early morning patrol went from bad to worse for a Dilworth police officer who stopped a driver for a bad headlight early Wednesday, Aug. 2. According to documents filed in Clay County District Court: After Officer Brad Browning stopped the vehicle for a non-working headlight about 1:45 a.m., he determined the driver, Stephen J. Hietala, 27, of Perham, Minn., had an active arrest warrant from Otter Tail County for an alleged assault on a peace officer.
MOORHEAD -- Sons of a Breckenridge area man who died Sunday evening, July 2, in a plane crash near Moorhead remembered their father on Monday, July 3, as a proud backer of his family’s athletic efforts and as a maker of things when he became restless. “He was always building stuff,” said Trevor Yaggie, 16, remembering his father, Mark, 41, who died when the plane he was piloting crashed in a field just west of the Moorhead airport.
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. -- One person died in a head-on collision on Highway 34 near Becker County 29 on Wednesday afternoon, May 24. According to a report released by the Minnesota State Patrol: A car was travelling westbound on Highway 34 when it crossed over the centerline, sideswiped a pickup and crashed head-on into another car.
