The Alexandria girls hockey team started its season on the losing end of a 2-0 game against Hastings Friday night at the Runestone Community Center. The game was scoreless until the 2:00 mark of the second period, when the Raiders’ Rachel Klimek scored to give them a 1-0 lead. The Alexandria boys cross country team made sure that the final race of the high school season at state was its best Saturday in Northfield. The Cardinals broke a team record at the meet as all five scoring runners finished the race under 17-minutes. This gave Alexandria a sixth-place finish out of 16 Class AA teams. The team result was surprising to those outside of the program as the Alexandria boys cross country team was not among the top-15 ranked teams in the final state coaches’ poll.
