After six months of meetings, open houses, community input, surveys and design refinements, a plan is in place for Douglas County's newest park. A local couple will be honored in November for their dedication to young athletes and their connections with faith. As one is built south of Alexandria, another is proposed for the east side of town. A roundabout has been proposed for the intersection of County Road 23 (Hazel Hill Road) and County Road 46 — where South McKay Avenue and 34th Avenue East meet. Dave Robley, Douglas County engineer and public works director, announced the plan during Tuesday's county board meeting. "It's a single-lane roundabout, it has three legs so it's fairly simple as far as roundabouts go," Robley said.
A former Alexandria man sentenced in July for criminal sexual conduct has again been charged with additional sex crimes. Colin Lloyd Robertson, 20, of Minot, North Dakota, formerly of Alexandria, is charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct — all felony level offenses. A victim reported in May of 2014, Robertson, then 18 years old, engaged in sexual penetration with a person between the ages of 13 and 16.
