Jefferson High School environmental science teacher John Esbjornsson (right) looked over a plastic bag that was found in Lake L'Homme Dieu last Friday by one of his students, Josh Anderson (left). The students were at L'Homme Dieu Beach and two other locations searching for zebra mussels. They reportedly found an abundance of the exotic species.

Nathan Olson with the DNR was on Lakes L'Homme Dieu and Carlos last Thursday and Friday. He provided this picture of a buoy that was pulled from Lake L'Homme Dieu. The bottom of the buoy is covered with thousands of tiny zebra mussels.
