The Alexandria League of Women Voters held a candidate forum Wednesday evening. Those taking part included (left to right) Douglas County Commissioner candidates Owen Miller and Chuck Nettestad and Douglas County Sheriff candidates Rich Homan, Scot Umlauf, Greg Windhurst and Troy Wolbersen. The third commissioner candidate, Elroy Frank, was unable to attend due to medical reasons.

The Garfield Fire Department, with mutual aid assistance from the Brandon Fire Department, responded to a house fire on the north side of Lobster Lake Friday afternoon. The house was a total loss.

One of the many crashes that happened over the holiday weekend was a two-vehicle accident on Highway 29 North near the Lake L'homme Dieu beach at about 12:30 p.m. Friday. It involved a van and one person was injured but the injuries were not life threatening, according to the State Patrol.
