On Thursday, a live painting event was hosted at Cherry Street Books in Alexandria for the public to see first-hand, an artist’s creative process unfold. Painter Myron Sahlberg of Alexandria painted a portrait of Emma Reilly, 14, of Alexandria, while promoting a large-scale project set to be unveiled next spring at the Runestone Museum.

A 25,000-pound Nichols and Shepard steam tractor was delivered home to the Runestone Museum in Alexandria on Tuesday, August 12. The tractor had been on loan to the Rose City Threshing Show for about 15 years and will now be on display in the annex behind the Viking ship in the museum’s Fort Alexandria.

A total of 151 tickets were sold for the Runestone Museum’s 30th annual steak fry fundraiser held last Wednesday in the museum’s Fort Alexandria. This year’s profits will be used for some refurbishing projects inside the museum.
