Physical education teacher and Hoops for Heart volunteer Chris Janssen smiles as Carlos Elementary paraprofessional Deanne Mortenson shaves his head. Janssen challenged students from Carlos, Garfield and Miltona elementary schools to participate in Hoops for Heart and raise at least $5,500. U.S. Senator Al Franken presented WWII Navy veteran Jim Clermont of Garfield with the French Legion Medal of Honor during a special presentation at Target Field on September 3. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus (behind Franken) was also part of the presentation; he invited Clermont and family to attend the Minnesota Twins game that day. (Contribtued)
