Schools in the area are closed or running late today, Monday, because of a winter storm. As of 7:50 am., Alexandria, Brandon, Evansville, Osakis, Minnewaska, West Central Area and Parkers Prairie schools are closed. The Douglas County area is under a winter storm warning.

Beaches to close on August 17
Lifeguards will be going off duty for the season at Lake L'Homme Dieu and Lake Latoka public beaches after Sunday, August 17. Beaches will be swim-at-your-own risk after that date. Lakes Area Recreation thanks beach users for their patronage and for another safe, fun summer.
