Volleyball: Cardinals fly through Storm, improve to 2-0

The Alexandria volleyball team picked up its second win in as many matches as the Cardinals took down Sauk Rapids-Rice 3-1 at AAHS on Thursday.

Alex (2-0) opened up with a 25-21 win in the first set, and the Cards doubled their lead a set later with a 25-22 victory in the second.

The Storm spoiled the sweep by winning the third set 25-20, but Alexandria returned to form in the fourth through a 25-20 win that clinched the 3-1 victory.

Kendra Hardy led AAHS with 16 kills, while Mia McGrane followed with 12 and McKenzie Duwenhoegger nine. Maya Lesnar came up with four blocks defensively, and the Cardinals finished with four aces as a team.

Alexandria will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 1, for the Eden Prairie Invitational, starting at 9 a.m.
