Tennis: Morris-WCA tennis knocks off Panthers in tight opener

The Morris-West Central Area girls tennis team opened up its season with a down-to-the-wire match against Parkers Prairie that saw Morris-WCA escape with a 4-3 win.

Parkers Prairie controlled the singles lineup with three out of the four wins from Abby Burquest, Ana Marquardt and Adrianna Marotta. But that one Morris-WCA win from Abbigail Athey proved to be important after the Tigers swept the doubles lineup.

Ryanna Long and Greta Hentges teamed up at the first doubles spot to win 6-0, 6-0. Hannah Wutzke and Lakia Manska took care of business at second doubles in a 6-3, 6-3 final and Katelyn Wehking and Kassidy Girard won 6-0, 6-1 at the third doubles spot.
