Swimming and diving: Cards diving in behind greater depth in 2018

The Alexandria girls swimming and diving team wants to build off last season’s successes as it dives into action this year.

“We look forward to countless personal bests, achievement of team and personal goals and better team cohesiveness,” head coach Kathy Walker said. “Our team will be able to celebrate successes in and out of the pool.”

The Cardinals lost letterwinners Abby Bartosiewski, Cassie Corson, Joslyn Kent and Chloe Schneider, but they bring back a slew of seniors to lead this year’s core.

AAHS has Addison Rodel, Brinna Murray, Erin O’Kane, Jadeya Peterson, Kaylee Weigel, Lauren Russell and Staci Nohl to represent the senior class this year, and Walker said she’s excited about what is to come.

“We are deeper than past years with a solid core of top performers returning to lead the competition,” she said.

Walker pitted Sartell-St. Stephen, Melrose and Sauk Centre as top-tier teams in Section 6A. Alexandria tested the waters on Aug. 28, when it hosted Melrose at 6 p.m. to open the season.
