Boys soccer: Rice named Alexandria MVP

The Alexandria boys soccer team finished off its 10-7-1 season with an awards ceremony that honored senior Cameron Rice as program's most valuable player.

Rice also received All-Central Lakes Conference recognition after totalling 22 goals and 11 assists on the year. Fellow senior Michael Kuhn was honored with the Most Valuable Forward Award. Kuhn and Rice formed a potent offensive punch this fall as Kuhn added 21 goals on the season with five assists. He, along with seniors Jared Schneider and Nick Nettleton, joined Rice on the All-Central Lakes Conference team.

Schneider was named the most valuable midfielder and Nettleton earned the Most Valuable Defender Award. Joe Westlund was given the varsity Most Improved Award and Nathan Schneiderhan was named the hardest worker.

JJ Foster, Schneiderhan and Jacob Meuwissen received all conference honorable mention, with Foster taking home the Golden Boot Award from his team.

The graduating seniors leaving the program include Jason Tikkanen, Justin Balcome, Jack Hilbrands, Kuhn, Rice, Schneider, Nettleton, Jason Bergerson and Tyler Harris.

The varsity captains for the 2018 season will be Foster, Zach Wosepka and Schneiderhan.
