“Even though we have great veteran leadership, we are happy to have young girls stepping up and contributing,” head coach Lee VanNyhuis said of his girls after winning the meet.

Osakis rested some of its athletes with the section true team meet scheduled for yesterday, Tuesday. The Silverstreaks still won the meet thanks to the depth on this roster. VanNyhuis mentioned seventh graders Tianna Stanek, Jordyn Stroup, along with eighth graders Grace Walter and Lauren Savageau as youngsters who have been able to make an impact on the varsity.

Stanek got Osakis going at SJP with a win in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.20. Alexa Hoffarth (second, 13.28) and Allison Scherr (sixth, 13.93) made it three Osakis girls in the top eight of the 100. The Silverstreaks also had three top-eight finishers in the triple jump (Hoffarth, second; Hannah Szech, fourth; Scherr, fifth) and the shot put (Brittney Sadlemyer, third; Jessica Bliese, fourth; Jordan Judd, sixth).

Osakis added a first-place finish from Jones in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:03.59. Paige Gabrielson also won the 1,600-meter run in 6:13.19 to round out the individual winners for the girls.
