Osakis dominates Eagle Valley

The Osakis softball team continued to cruise behind a strong offense and solid pitching on Tuesday night.

The Silverstreaks scored five runs in the first and second innings to take a commanding lead. Mackenzie Staloch went 3-for-3 with a grand slam home run to finish with six RBIs. Brooke Waldorf also added two hits on a night when Osakis had nine hits in all and used five Eagle Valley errors to help its cause.

“We played very well in every aspect of the game today,” head coach John Stigman said. “We seemed to be clicking in every facet of the game. We hit well, we pitched well, we defended well and we ran well. Add all those up and that equals a pretty successful day for our team.”

Rylee Mickle made her first career start for Osakis and didn’t disappoint. The freshman allowed just one hit and struck out eight while hitting two batters in the complete game performance.

“Rylee threw well and didn’t hurt herself with walks,” Stigman said. “She had a strong outing, finishing the game with a one-hitter. Mackenzie Staloch provided most of the offense, going 3-3, including a grand slam. Mac had what would be considered a career day today at the plate.”
