Osakis girls earn second seed in 6AA North

The Osakis girls' basketball team got the second seed in the Section 6AA North tournament and will play seventh-seeded Pillager next Thursday, March 6, in the subsection quarterfinals.

Section 6AA did not use the QRF system to seed their bracket. Coaches voted on the seedings and put Staples-Motley (17-6) as the number-one seed after having a win over Osakis and Sauk Centre during the regular season. The Silverstreaks' win over Sauk Centre also helped them earn the second seed ahead of the Mainstreeters (18-5), who are the third seed. Holdingford in the fourth seed, Melrose fifth, Pierz sixth and Long Prairie-Grey Eagle eighth.

Osakis is 20-2 after a win against Brandon-Evansville on Tuesday night. The Silverstreaks will try to wrap up an undefeated Prairie Conference schedule when they host second-place Browerville on Friday night.

It should be another competitive 6AA North touranment with all of the top four seeds being at least 11 games above .500 after Tuesday night's game. Osakis would play the winner of Sauk Centre and Pierz on March 8 at St. John's University with a win over Pillager.
