Streaks dominate Section 6AA opener

The Osakis volleyball team wasn’t going to let Long Prairie-Grey Eagle spoil a home tournament match as the Silverstreaks moved up to the 6AA level on Friday night.

They made sure of that from the get-go as Osakis jumped all over the Thunder in a 25-9 win in the first set. The Silverstreaks didn’t let up, winning 25-19 in the next two sets to roll into another home match against Melrose that was set for last night, Tuesday.

“It was fun to watch how well the team worked together,” head coach Kirsten Wessel said. “Brooke [Sorenson] blocked and hit very well. Brittney [Sadlemyer] keeps getting stronger and smarter hitting and blocking. I enjoy watching the two of them put the ball down.”

Sorenson led the team again at the net with eight kills and five blocks. Madi Forsell added five kills, while Annalise Savageau and Sadlemyer each had four. Savageau also added 17 assists and 10 digs. Abby Stroup had a team-high 16 digs.

Melrose came into Osakis on Tuesday as the third seed in the 6AA-North field with a 19-8 record. The winner of that match will advance to the subsection finals on Thursday in Sauk Rapids. That match is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Visit for details on Osakis’ match against Melrose.
