Osakis' Kraemer, Anderson, Hoffarth alive in individual tennis tourney

Top-seeded Taylor Kraemer of Osakis advanced to the semifinals of the Section 6A individual tennis tournament on Monday with two easy wins in the opening rounds.

Kraemer took care of Myranda Thoen of Minnewaska 6-0, 6-0 in round one before knocking off Jailyn Brinkman of Melrose 6-2, 6-0 in the quarterfinals. She will now take on Maggie Buyck of Benson-KMS after Buyck beat Morgan Kranz of Sauk Centre and Lauryn McLaughlin of West Central Area in her two matches on Monday. The other side of the semifinals bracket will have Elisha Engelmeyer of Melrose taking on Bethany Ellis of Sauk Centre.

Osakis' Katie Anderson and Alexa Hoffarth teamed up in the doubles tournament and also made the semifinals. They beat Kendra Dingmann and Malanie Reese of Benson-KMS in the first round by a 6-2, 6-0 score. Andreson and Hoffarth then beat Brooklyn Levin and Abby Ecker of Long Prairie-Grey Eagle-Upsala-Swanville Area 6-3, 6-2.

Hoffarth and Anderson will take on the Minnewaska duo of Jada Hoffman and Ellen Stensrud in the semifinals. They advanced with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Kaitlyn Vogel and Brittany Cardwell in the opening round before knocking out Melrose's Kenedy Meyer and Kelly Kennedy in the quarterfinals by a 6-3, 6-1 score.

The Dutchmen did send one duo to the semifinals as Grace Brang and Madison Rausch secured their spot and a matchup with Minnewaska's Rachel Riley and MeKenna Hanson. Riley and Hanson won 6-1, 6-2 in the first round over Sophia Rick and Nicole Meyer of Sauk Centre. They then won 7-5, 6-4 against Benson-KMS' Susan Zniewski and Kelsey Rajewski.

The final two rounds of the 6A individual tournament will get started at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Fitness Evolution in Sartell.
