Osakis volleyball making it look easy in Prairie

The Osakis volleyball team ran its winning streak in the Prairie Conference to six last Thursday night as the Silverstreaks remained unbeaten in league play with a 3-0 sweep of Eagle Valley.

Osakis had dropped just one set in those six matches in moving to 6-0. The Silverstreaks had no problems with Eagle Valley, winning 25-12, 25-16 and 25-12.

Brooke Sorenson had a nice night to lead the way for Osakis. She had a team-high 10 kills to go along with 11 digs and a block.

“Brooke had another great night at the net,” head coach Kirsten Wessel said. “She just keeps getting better and is fun to watch.   She has learned so much about the game and plays so smart.  Fellow senior Annalise Savageau has also become a very smart player and continues to improve daily as well. Senior Breanna Larson has also made huge improvements.  She continually is working harder every day and challenging her teammates to do the same.”

Savageau had a team-high 11 assists to go along with eight digs and three kills. Taylor Spychalla had six kills, while Mackenzie Staloch finished with six assists, 13 digs and five ace serves.

“Really all of these girls are so fun to coach because they are so willing to learn and get better.  They are not satisfied with “good enough.”   They are striving to be the best team.”

The Silverstreaks have established themselves as that early on in the Prairie Conference. They went into a match-up against Upsala last night, Tuesday, as the only team without a loss on either side of the league. Their lead over Royalton in the North half of the Prairie Conference stood at two games.
