Osakis volleyball off to nice start

The Osakis volleyball team got a win in four sets over Sebeka in the season opener on Tuesday night.

Brooke Sorenson led the way at the net with 12 kills. Brittney Sadlemyer added six kills and also finished with seven digs and two blocks. That helped Osakis overcome a 25-16 loss in game three by winning the first two sets 25-17 and 25-22 before taking the fourth 25-16.

"Brittney did a fabulous job at serve receive and blocking," head coach Kirsten Wessel said. "One area we are heavily concentrating on is serve receive, so for a girl who hasn't played much back row to lead us in serve receive passing accuracy, that is outstanding."

Mackenzie Staloch had 16 assists, while Annalise Savageau added nine in helping to set up the offense. Breanna Larson, Josapha Haider, Ariel Chalmers, Alli Scherr and Abby Stroup are also vying for back-row duties and have all impressed Wessel to this point.

"I like that they are making my job difficult in making a decision," Wessel said. "This group of girls has proved so far to be hard workers and a group that will work together no matter who is on the floor."
