Section 6A girls' basketball: Parkers Prairie falls short in state tournament bid
An offensive foul by Madison Dorn with 9.7 seconds remaining cut down Parkers Prairie's chances of tying their game with Ada-Borup and the Panthers saw their hopes of avenging last year's section championship loss to the Cougars evaporate in a 51-47 loss.
Shaina Stevenson hit two free throws in those last ticks of the clock to put Ada-Borup up by four, sealing the Ada-Borup victory.
The Panthers, ranked No. 6 in the polls, had beaten the No. 8 ranked Cougars earlier in the year 48-44, but saw themselves trailing by nine at the half 28-19 after Ada-Borup took a 5-3 lead and never trailed.
Parkers Prairie began the march back, pulling to within 49-47 as Dorn hit a three with 40.1 seconds remaining, and stole the ball with just over 20 seconds on the clock, heading downcourt for the tying shot when Vega stepped front and drew the foul that sealed the win.
Michaela Noga led the Panthers (26-2) with 17 points, while Ally Taylor and Dorn added 13 apiece.
Vega led the Cougars with 14.
