Alexandria couple wins Osakis tourney
Anglers battled through some wet conditions for the 34th annual Osakis Lions Club Walleye Tournament but brought in some nice fish over the two-day event on Lake Osakis this past weekend.
Alexandria’s Glen and Belinda Wink were the winning duo as the husband and wife caught 29.2 pounds of walleyes over the two days. They brought home $4,560 for the win as the tournament pays out prizes to the top 15 teams.
Greg Waletzko and Al Leinen of Holdingford were second in the tournament with 23 pounds of fish for a $2,850 payout. Paul Wise and Jason Merickel were third after catching 22.5 pounds of walleye for a $1,710 pay day.
The tournament featured more than 55 teams with a total of 313 walleyes being registered at a total of 704 pounds over the two days. Day one featured 186 fish weighed in.
The biggest walleye of the event was caught on Saturday as the duo of Drake and John Herd of Alexandria caught an 8.3 pound fish. Greg Sadlemyer and Rodd Gustafson brought in the biggest walleye on day two with a 7.6-pound fish. Both those were good for a $530 prize.
