2 bucks in 2 years

Osakis’ Hunter Infanger executed a little maneuvering to perfection before putting down the second buck of his life on the evening of opening day of the firearms season on November 9.

0 Talk about it

Infanger, 11 years old, was sitting with his dad, Bill Infanger, in a stand on Hunter’s great-grandfather’s property near Little Sauk when this buck showed itself.

“We were in a box stand up on a ridge looking down through our woods that surrounds a large willow swamp with a little bit of woods and then a field behind us,” Bill said. “We were expecting the deer to come out of the swamp or the woods in front of us and head for the field behind us or catch a buck roaming the edge of the swamp.”

Instead, this eight-pointer was already working the edge of the woods in the field behind them when they spotted him. Hunter slowly turned himself around for a shot. He waited about 30 seconds before the buck gave him a broadside opportunity at about 40 yards.

He made it count when the opportunity came. Hunter’s shot out of his Browning 20-gauge was on the mark. The eight-pointer was the second buck of the young hunter’s life after he took another buck during last year’s season.
