Lakers softball opens season with win

The Minnewaska softball team did not show much in the way of rust by defeating Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 12-2 in its first game of the season Tuesday at home.

Allyssa Engfer and Kacia Kollman led the Lakers by driving in two RBIs each against ACGC. Shanae Suchy was also productive in the second spot of the lineup for the Lakers by picking up two hits in four at-bats while scoring three runs.

Madison Phillips picked up the win on the mound in a five inning performance, giving up four hits and striking out six batters.
