Volleyball: WCA drops conference match against Wheaton
The West Central Area volleyball team suffered a three set Pheasant Conference loss at the hands of the Warriors in Wheaton on Tuesday night.
"Overall, it was a tough night for the Knights," WCA coach Amy Linn said. "We never really got into our system and we made far too many errors."
The Warriors (13-4) took the first set 25-17. The Knights closed the gap in the second two sets but couldn't earn the win. They fell in sets two and three, 25-18 and 25-19.
"Wheaton was able to capitalize on our mistakes and controlled each set," Linn said.
Brianna Kreft had a team-leading five kills on the night for WCA, followed by Morgan Woodle with three. Kaitlyn Sanstead had 14 digs for the Knights' defense. Woodle had eight digs and Kaleigh Anderson had seven.
The Knights' overall record falls to 9-10 with a conference record of 2-5.
The Knights host Hancock on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 for their last conference game of regular season play.
