WCA boys dish out awards

After finishing third in the Prairie Conference with a 10-4 record, the West Central Area boys’ basketball team wrapped up its season by recognizing the players with some end of the year awards.

Head coach Kraig Hunter was happy with the hard-working team the Knights put on the floor every game.

“Once again, we were a tough, scrappy team that played with big hearts and we had amazing team chemistry,” Hunter said. “The guys were like a family.”

WCA completed the season with a record of 18-8 and advanced to the subsection semifinals where it fell in overtime to state-ranked Wheaton. The Knights were also one of only 62 teams in the state to receive the Silver Team Academic Award for having a team GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Dakotah Kashmark was named the Most Valuable Player while Ben Anderson and Hunter Pfingsten were selected Co-Most Improved Players.
