WCA girls down Upsala

The West Central Area girls haven’t let losses turn into losing streaks this season and they didn’t again on Monday as the Knights followed their loss to Osakis last week with a 60-47 win over Upsala.

West Central Area has four losses on the season but have won the next time out in every one of those games. That has helped the Knights improve to 10-4 and 7-2 in the Prairie Conference.

Holly Van Kempen led the way against Upsala with 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jordan Anderson added 13 points. Tiana Christenson had eight points and five rebounds and Kylee Fernholz and Abby Van Kempen each had seven points.

“Overall, we played well,” head coach Beth Hill said. “We have been having some mental errors that are leading to costly turnovers that we need to clean up. Our guards played very nice defense tonight, forcing some turnovers. We were able to get everyone time in this game, and I am glad we were able to finish at the end.”
