Cross country: Hagen paces Lakers at NLS Invite

Sydney Hagen claimed a top-25 finish to lead the Minnewaska cross country teams at the New London-Spicer Invitational on Thursday.

Hagen’s time of 21:52.8 was good for 23rd overall in the field of 109 runners. In the boys race, Isaiah Testa clocked in at 20:05.0 for 96th, and Aiden Tank followed at 20:54.8 for 109th among 126 runners.

Neither side had enough runners to complete a full team. Eden Valley-Watkins won the 15-team girls meet with 92 points, just edging out West Central Area’s 95. Isabel Schirm of Lac qui Parle Valley-Dawson-Boyd took medalist honors with a time of 19:29.7.

On the boys side, West Central Area’s 51 points claimed first among 19 teams. Staples followed in second with 70 points, and the Cardinals’ Emmet Anderson finished first individually with a 15:51.9 mark.

The Lakers will be back in action for the Melrose Invitational at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
