Head coach Brian Perleberg said the Chargers were fortunate to rally for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase Wheaton runs allowed by earlier mistakes.

“We didn’t play well defensively today,” Perleberg said. “With breakdowns in communications, dropping balls and missing cut offs, we hurt ourselves time and time again.”

James Huisman picked up the win in relief for the Chargers after entering the game in the seventh inning and pitching out of a jam.

Brandon Christianson and Christian McGaffey both drove in two RBIs and scored a run for the Chargers in the game. Cody Lund also had a multi-hit game, going 2-3 and scoring a run for Brandon-Evansville.
