Turnovers late in the first half led to a 14-0 run for Hillcrest Lutheran Academy that the Brandon-Evansville boys could not recover from on Tuesday night.

The Chargers and Comets were tied at 11 apiece when the Comets started their run. They took that 25-11 lead into the break and carried it over into a 52-39 loss that dropped Brandon-Evansville to 0-3 on the young season.

Skyler Quinn was the only player in double figures for the Chargers. He added four steals, while James Huisman finished with seven of his team’s 29 rebounds. The Chargers shot 16-of-38 form the field as a team and 7-of-17 from the free throw line. Turnovers ended up costing them as they gave the ball away 22 times.

Hillcrest used that to help shoot 40 percent from the field (23-of-57). Daniel Nersten led that charge with 23 points, while also pulling down five rebounds.
